SALINA, KANSAS, July 30, 2026 ‒ In cooperation with the Wolf River Watershed Joint District No. 66, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces a 30-day public review period for a Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) for South Fork Wolf Watershed Site 12-26 in Brown County, Kansas. The EA evaluates potential alternatives for a proposed Grade Stabilization Dam (GSD) at this site. This assessment was conducted in consultation with local, State, and Tribal governments, Federal Agencies, as well as interested organizations and individuals. NRCS provides technical and financial assistance to local project sponsors under the authority of the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act, Public Law 83-566, in accordance with Section 102(2)(c) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, Public Law 91-190, as amended (42 USC 43221 et seq.)
 

Sponsoring local organizations of this project are the Wolf River Watershed Joint District No. 66 and Brown County Conservation District.
