Raft River Flood Protection and Groundwater Recharge Project
The purpose of this project is to provide groundwater recharge to a designated Critical Ground Water Area and provide a sustainable water supply for agricultural producers. The project will also provide flood prevention and flood damage reduction to agricultural lands, homes and infrastructure.
This project addresses flood prevention, recharging and stabilizing groundwater levels, increasing public health and safety, and reducing sediment loads to the Snake River. It was authorized on April 27, 2026.

A Public Meeting was held July 24, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Raft River High School, 55 N. 1st W., Malta, ID. The meeting was published in our Events listings.
The Public Comment Period was from July 10 through August 7, 2026, and is closed.
Draft Watershed Plan and Environmental Assessment (Plan-EA) for the Raft River Flood Protection and Groundwater Recharge Project was published on June 3, 2025.
