San Carlos Irrigation & Drainage District (WFPO)
Project Description
The San Carlos Irrigation and Drainage District (SCIDD) Reach 3 Watershed Project aims to modernize parts of the District’s century‑old irrigation system in Pinal County, Arizona. SCIDD currently relies on more than 200 miles of unlined canals and laterals, which lose close to half of their water through seepage and operational spill. These losses significantly reduce the amount of water available to farmers, especially during dry years, and limit on‑farm efficiency throughout the District.
The Project proposes upgrading key portions of Reach 3 by improving canal infrastructure, lining select sections and constructing a regulating reservoir to better manage deliveries. These improvements will help conserve water, reduce losses, and make irrigation supplies more reliable for growers across the SCIDD system.
