Summary
This project will provide the following environmental benefits: reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire by implementing fuels reduction treatments within the areas of State and private property north of the Wallow Fire burn scar in southern Apache County. Treatments will protect or enhance wildlife habitat for species including the Apache Trout and Mexican Spotted Owl. The objective of this project is to reduction in the trees per acre, and basal area per acre to appropriate historic or recommended levels, resulting in resilient timber stands and reduced fuel loading.
