Central Arizona Irrigation & Drainage District (WFPO)
Project Description
The Central Arizona Irrigation and Drainage District (CAIDD) Watershed Plan and Environmental Assessment Project is in Pinal County, Arizona, southeast of Casa Grande. The purpose of the project is agricultural water management to increase the available water supply for the farms located in the CAIDD service area and preserve the long-term productivity of the soil. The need is to partially offset the loss of Colorado River surface water supplies expected to be delivered to the CAIDD through the Central Arizona Project (CAP) as well as reduce the impacts of drought stress on crops through conservation practices. The solutions considered for this project will include non-structural measures such as cover crops and structural measures such as new irrigation wells and pipelines.
