Project Description

The Brawley Wash Watershed Plan and Environmental Assessment Project is in Pima County, Arizona, within the Brawley Wash Watershed west of Tucson. The purpose of the Project is to provide flood prevention, floodplain restoration, erosion and sediment reduction, and natural drainage flow restoration within portions of the watershed affected by past land use and abandoned agricultural infrastructure. There is a need to reduce sheet-flow flooding, restore historic drainage patterns, reduce erosion and sedimentation, improve floodplain function, reduce potential flood damages to infrastructure and agricultural lands, control invasive species, enhance native habitat restoration, and improve rangeland and soil health while maintaining access for property inspections, emergency response, and fire management.
