Gila County Flooding EWP

Project Description

This project consists of flood mitigation work in several drainages outside the limits of the City of Globe, Arizona. After the severe flooding fall of 2025, the stream channels in the area were heavily aggraded with sediment and debris, much of it from the burn scar of the Telegraph Fire of 2021. Floodwaters exceeded channel capacities, damaging property and causing the death of at least three people in Globe. Measures undertaken by Gila County to address these risks include sediment and debris removal, bridge, utility and roadway protection, and streambank stabilization. A floodwall to protect the Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center is also included in the plans.
