NRCS Texas State Technical Committee Meeting
NRCS Texas will be hosting a virtual State Technical Committee Meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:30 am.
Registration
In the first year of the Regenerative Pilot Program (RPP), a national list of 15 primary conservation practices was established. This list of primary regenerative practices was used as an eligibility requirement for RPP. To be eligible, producers must have at least one primary regenerative practice currently being implemented or planned to be implemented in the contract. Once this requirement is met, all other practices identified in the conservation plan are eligible for RPP financial assistance. Also, in the first year, the land uses of crop, forest, pasture, and range were required to be offered as eligible land uses in each state. Additionally, there was a requirement to assess all applicable soil and water resource concerns on these land uses.
Starting in FY27, the locally led conservation process will be leveraged to provide information, analysis, and recommendations on the implementation and technical aspect of RPP. We are looking for input from State Technical Committee members to:
- Refine the list of soil and water resource concerns and the corresponding resource concern components to those that are of critical need for conservation planning and program delivery efforts in Texas.
- Identify land use(s) that have the greatest need based on critical soil and water resource concerns.
- Identify additional conservation practices essential, based on a practice’s primary functions, to address a critical soil and water resource concern.
For additional background and resources, please review information found https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs-initiatives/regenerative-pilot-program, including the list of primary practices, fact sheets, and other pertinent information on RPP.
I look forward to receiving your input on September 8. We encourage you to share your written comments. Please send your feedback to NRCS State Conservationist Kristy Oates at Kristy.oates@usda.gov.
If you have any questions, please contact Charles Kneuper at 254-742-9873.
