Public Notice of Availability
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), with Sevier County as the project sponsor, announce the availability of the Draft Richfield-West Sevier Watershed Plan-Environmental Assessment (Plan-EA) for proposed flood protection measures in Sevier County, Utah. This project is partially funded through the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act (Public Law [PL] 83-566).
Project Description
The project would construct a debris basin in Flat Canyon, install channel improvements, and upgrade the flood control gate in the Sevier Valley Canal.
NEPA Analysis
NRCS, as the lead federal agency, has prepared a Draft Plan-EA that analyzes potential impacts to the natural and human environment from this project. The Plan-EA also integrates analysis following the Principles, Requirements and Guidelines for Water and Land Related Resources Implementation Studies and Federal Water Resource Investments (PR&G, 2018).
Current Status
The Project is currently in the Draft Plan-EA review period and comments are being accepted between March 31, 2026, and April 30, 2026. Please send comments to Ammon Boswell at NRCS (see Contact Information below) and reference the Richfield-West Sevier Plan-EA with your submittal.
